VW Bus Tea Towels are Here!

Hi there. How are you?

I’m well aware that my work appeals more to women than men. Most of my buyers are female and 85% my followers on Instagram are female. My work has a feminine look. I get it, embrace it, and design to appeal to my mostly feminine tribe.

But, my newest product was made with a man in mind.

Meet Yoshi, our 1977 Volkswagen Westfalia Bus.

Meet Yoshi

Last fall, my husband bought a 1977 Volkswagen Westfalia. Lovingly referred to as “Yoshi”, Matt has been working hard all winter and spring to rebuild the engine and restore the interior. We’re looking forward hitting the road with Yoshi in just a couple of weeks for the Dead and Company show in Deer Creek. (I know, totally hippie. I’ve got my tie-die all ready!)

Matt thought that Yoshi would make a great tea towel design.

I was happy to oblige. I mean, how cute is that bus?? How could I not draw it?

Introducing my VW Bus Tea Towel!

Featuring a front, side, and rear view of Yoshi, this 100% cotton tea towel was printed in an olive green ink to match our bus. I’m totally thrilled with it!

This is the first completely digital illustration I’ve ever made. I drew these all with my Apple Pencil* and iPad Pro* in the Procreate app. I am hooked on this powerful tool! You will be seeing more all digital illustration from me soon.

Ships free in time for Dad’s Day.

The Yoshi towel would make a great Father’s Day gift for your car lovin’ or hippie dad. Grab a Dad’s Day card, wrap up his favorite booze in the towel and you’re good to go.

Heck, anyone with a love for retro, cars, van life, hippie culture would dig this towel. I’ll certainly have a couple with me when we take Yoshi camping in the coming weeks. I’ll also lay one down on the coffee table and put snacks on top of it when we entertain this weekend.

You can shop my whole collection of tea towels right HERE. They all ship FREE in the US. ($6.00 flat rate shipping for my international friends.)

Last thing….

If you purchase a towel, I’d love to see how you use it in your home. Send me pictures!

That’s all for now.

Ciao, Jen

Last Minute Gift Ideas

Hi there. How are you?

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is gift wrapping. I spend way too much time on it and I like to come up with new ways to wrap things every year.

Tea towels make great gift wrap. Here I've wrapped up jars of local honey and apple butter.

Tea Towel as Gift Wrap

Since I started making tea towels a couple years back, I enjoy using them as wrapping "paper". Here I wrapped up a jar of local honey and a local apple butter and topped it off with one of my dala hoop ornaments.

Wouldn't this make a cute teacher or hostess gift?

My fabric ornaments have sold well this year.

Hoops are Hot for 2017

I Introduced these small fabric hoop ornaments in 2016 and did not sell a single one. This year, they've been super popular! The ebb and flow of retail is weird.

New Wine Towels

As a lover of wine, I don't know why it took me so long to make a wine tea towel. They're finally here and I love them! (Click HERE to see the whole towel.)

Wrap a bottle of wine in this wine tea towel and you've got an instant holiday hostess gift!

A Stylish Holiday Gift

My favorite way to gift a tea towel is with a bottle of wine. Wrap it up and a bow and bam, you've got a fab holiday hostess gift.  (Click HERE to see the steps I followed to wrap this.)

One last thing:

All orders placed by December 19th will ship with a free mystery print.

It's a little gift from me to you!

December 19th is also the last day I will be shipping for the holidays.

My apologies to my international crew....Any international orders placed now won't make it in time for Christmas.

Happy Holidays Friends! Ciao.

Filling out the dala horse line

As my long time patrons know, this is not my first foray into Dala horses. I did this initial illustration back in 2012 and it went over big in my very Swedish hometown. After making and selling at least 3 originals, I put this dala on cards, prints, pillows, and pins. Even after almost 5 years, my dala products are consistently top sellers.

I've got a thing for hearts too

Hearts have shown up in my work for years. Back in 2011, I had my first solo gallery show at JR Kortman Galleryright around Valentines Day. I made a series of small collages with a heart motif to sprinkle in among my chair pieces. They were a big hit. See my name in there? I wasn't even married yet!

"Recycled" hearts

The hearts I used for my tea towel began their life life as a coloring page. I gave it away as a freebie to my mailing list last year.

I first used this pattern as a freebie for my mailing list. Want to join the fun? Click the photo and join. You'll get a whole bundle of coloring pages!
