My 2014 Color Palette

Hi there. How are you?
I can't seem to get enough of this color palette lately. I'm digging that little pop of neon red against the aqua and brown. I've started some new abstracts featuring these hues.

These pieces still need a little touch of ink embellishment, but I'm not quite sure what that will look like yet. I'm going to let the ideas marinate in my brain for a bit. Trying hard not to rush or be too impulsive.  I'll be sure to share these when they're all done.

What colors are speaking to you these days? Do share! Have a fab week. Ta-Ta!

Wedding Invites in the Works

Ciao, Ciao!

I've been blog delinquent for quite a while now. February seems to kick me in the butt every year. So much to do during this dreary month.

The wedding is now 3 months away! Matt and I finished up our wedding registries today with a trip to

Crate & Barrel.

We are both big fans of their overall modernist design sensibility. We had a great time touring around the store with the gun in hand.

We also went into Oak Park to visit the

Paper Source.

We picked up all the necessary envelopes and paper so I can get the wedding invites printed and put together. I made a prototype a little while back, which is seen here.  I'm now working on enclosures and a little pocket fold doo-dad to send everything off in.  I'll be sure to post a photo when they are all finished and in final form.

In other news, my show at

Kortman's

is up until March 19th. Stop by anytime the store is open (10-6 M thru Sat) to check it out.

Arrivederci friends!

Lazy Summer Days Coming To an End

I have to admit, I've been a little lazy when it came to arting and blogging this week. It's the last week of July....The last full month of summer vacation. In less than a month, I'll be back to work. Ugh.

This is my newest piece. "Need to Know" measures 5" x 5" and was created on blue cardstock. I was feeling the need to move away from the neutral color palette I've adopted this summer and I'm happy with the results.

This weekend my artwork will be exhibited in the Culture Tent at Festa Italiana in Rockford. Festa is a yearly celebration of Italian culture that my family and I have been involved with for years. My brother Kyle and I were founding members of the Amici Italiani Youth Dance Troupe back in 1989. My mom was the co-director of the group and still is. Its fun to have a connection to your heritage like this.

There is an artist "meet and greet" in the Culture Tent on Saturday, from 4-6 pm if you'd like to come out and meet the artists. I'll be there!

Happy weekend all!
